Schroon Lake drops close contests to Chazy

Chazy 4, Schroon 3

Chazy rallied in the final inning to beat Schroon Lake, 4-3, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference baseball play April 12.

Trailing 3-2, Chazy loaded the bases in the home seventh on two walks and a hit. An error plated the tying run and John Tregan's hit scored the game winner for the Eagles.

Chazy held a 2-0 lead until Schroon Lake managed to push across a pair of runs in the sixth inning. Matt Savarie laced an RBI single, the Wildcats' lone hit on the day, to make it 2-1 and the tying run scored on a wild pitch.

Schroon took a 3-2 advantage in the top of seventh, setting the stage for Chazy's late heroics.

Ricky Osier hurled a one-hitter, striking our 14, in gaining the win for the Eagles.

Ticonderoga 14, Peru 3

Ticonderoga crushed Peru, 14-3 in a non-league baseball game April 12.

Miles Austin, Tanner Purkey, Nate Lenhart and Bobby Grey each had two hits for the Sentinels. Mile cracked a home run.

Tyler Tucker gained the mound win, striking out eight in four innings of work.

Crown Point 5, Willsboro 1

Nathan Tabor led Crown Point past Willsboro, 5-1, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference baseball play April 13.

Tabor hurled a complete game, two-hitter for the Panthers. He fanned 19 hitters. Tabor added three hits and drove home three runs at the plate.

Jaice Spring, Dan Groshans and Jim Greenough also had base knocks for the locals.

Fort Edward 7, Moriah 2

Moriah fell to Fort Edward, 7-2, in non-league baseball play April 14, breaking open a close game late.

Tied 2-2, Fort Edward scored five times in the fifth inning with the help of two Moriah errors.

Trevor Cheney and Jeff Greenough each had two hits for Moriah. Ryan Mascarenas was the tough-luck losing pitcher, allowing just six hits.
