OLDFORGE-The Adirondack Pastel Society (APS) announced that three of 11 recently accepted members have won awards in the 7th Annual Northeast National Pastel Exhibition at the arts center in Old Forge.
Honored members include:
Michelle Littlefield Winnie's Fresh Polish - Alexander/Rosenau Award
Patricia Tribastone's Apples on Blue - Mulvihill-Firsching Ward in Honor of Jim Mulvihill
Adriana Meiss's Otisco Field - Mary Bonner Chapman Award
Other new members include Martha M. Deming, Constance Dodge, David Francis, Audrey Grendahl Kuhn, Joyce Hanson, Nancy Ness, Janet Palmer and Joann Quinlivan.
APS is further honored to have member Martha Deming's plein-air pastel "Green Bridge Morning" illustrate the show's Annual Commemorative Poster. The poster and the 111 original pastel paintings will be on sale through the arts center.
The opening reception is open to the public and is scheduled for Friday, May 13 from 5-7 p.m. The exhibition, which draws entries from as far as Canada to California runs from May 14 to June 26.
The juror of selection for the 7th Annual Northeast National Pastel Exhibition is leading pastel and oil portrait artist, Wede Caporale. Caporale is the author of Painting Children's Portraits in Pastel which is sold internationally. The juror of Awards is Lucy Petrie. A native of the Adirondacks, Petrie is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and has had her work appear in many leading art magazines.
