Ti girls lack track depth this spring season

TICONDEROGA-The Ticonderoga girls track team is short on numbers, but big on enthusiasm.

"Our strength will have to be classified as great expectations," Coach Walt Thorne said. "We have youth mixed with some experience, but the greatest strength is their willingness to work hard and never give up. Unfortunately we don't have the numbers this outdoor season. We will again play the role of spoiler."

The Sentinels have just 20 athletes on their roster, but 14 are returning from last season's 1-6 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference team.

Courtney Shaner, Tabitha Taylor, Nicole Trudeau, Kate Mercer, Jaelyn Granger and Grace Ginn return to the sprints and jumps. They're joined by newcomers Alyssa Rodriguez and Sierra Woodard.

The distance team is led by Alaina Bevilacqua, Becky Barber and Hannah Herbst. All three qualified for the state championship meet during the past cross country season. Rookie Sara teRiele joins them.

Delaney Bush, Miranda Davis, Kristain Gibbs and Jordan Quesnel return to the throwing events for Ti. They're joined by first-year throwers Jessica Cheney, Megan Schryer and Katherine Troche.
