Peregrine falcons, aka Duck Hawks, are the fastest of all flying creatures, with speeds in excess of 200 mph recorded during a dive. Known for nesting on mountain cliffs, these majestic birds were recently sighted in the mountains near Elizabethtown. In recent years, due to the efforts of the NYSDEC Endangered Species Unit, peregrines and bald eagles have made a tremendous recovery throughout the state.
