One hurt following car accident in LP

One person was transported to a local hospital following a major car accident in Lake Placid late last week.

The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene of a four-car motor vehicle accident with injuries at 4:42 p.m. Thursday.

According to reports, two trucks and 24 members arrived at the scene of the crash, which occurred on Saranac Avenue. Rescue personnel established that five people were involved in the wreck.

One person was transported to the Adirondack Medical Center in Lake Placid for treatment of back and neck pain. The rest of the individuals involved in the accident did not require hospital transport, according to officials with the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service.

Lake Placid's head fire driver, Brad Jacques, says the road had to be closed off to motorized traffic for a "brief period of time."

Saranac Lake rescue personnel provided stand-by assistance, and Ray Brook-based state police investigated the cause of the accident.

Firefighters were back in service by 5:23 p.m.
