SCHROONLAKE-Schroon Lake Central School District residents will get their first official look at the completed $14.7 million building renovation and expansion project when teachers host an open house/academic fair.
The event is slated for Thursday, April 14. The building will be open for visitors to tour 6 to 6:30 and 8 to 8:30 p.m. In between, 6:30 to 8 p.m., there will be an academic fair showcasing the work of students.
It will be sponsored by the Schroon Lake Teachers' Association.
"The association will be sponsoring this event because we are extremely proud of the accomplishments of our students and are looking forward to showcasing their projects during this open house/academic fair format," Laura Corey, association president, said.
The evening, which will include refreshments,

is also a way for teachers to thank the community, Corey said.
"We are so appreciative of the community's support of our school," she said. "We would like to thank community members for their continued support of our students."
The teachers' association will also distribute pencils with its motto, "Working Together to Achieve Academic Success."
Schroon Lake's building project has been completed in stages this academic year. Most classrooms were ready for use in the fall. The new gym opened in January. The new auditorium will be unveiled at the open house/academic fair.
"The construction project has gone pretty well," Corey said. "There are, of course, loose ends to be tied up as the project nears completion. Overall, everyone is pleased with the project."
The construction project is technically two projects - a $13.4 million upgrade of the existing school building and a separate $1.3 million conversion of the current combination gym/auditorium into an auditorium.
Voters approved both measures June 28, 2006.
The first proposition totals $13,398,159.
