Hospice receives donation

PORTHENRY-Sherman V. Allen, the parent company of Mac's Markets, recently presented the Essex County office of High Peaks Hospice & Palliative Care with a check for $288.

During the 2010 holiday season Mac's Market in Port Henry participated again in the hospice Angel Bear program. The program allows customers to purchase an Angel Bear card to be inscribed with the name of a loved one being remembered during the holidays.

In accepting the check Cheryl Olson, development coordinator for High Peaks Hospice & Palliative Care, said, "We are grateful to Mac's Market for their continuing commitment to hospice in Essex County and also to the Port Henry community for their generous support."

All proceeds from the Angel Bear program will benefit High Peaks Hospice & Palliative Care, a not-for-profit healthcare organization dedicated to providing compassionate end-of-life care to patients and their families in all of Essex and Warren Counties and portions of Franklin, St. Lawrence and Hamilton Counties. Services are available to anyone with a prognosis of six months or less, regardless of ability to pay.
