AMC: Nurses want three-year, 22 percent wage increase

"All employees of AMC currently contribute 5 percent of the premium for single health insurance," Riccio wrote in yesterday's press release, adding that the union has rejected that proposed change.

The nurses union represents 165 employees at AMC. The hospital's total workforce is 940. The most recent contract expired late last year and was extended through March 22 of this year.

Officials say AMC is "committed to providing competitive wages and benefits to all employees without compromising patient services or fiscal responsibility."

The hospital's administration also notes that it values the "dedication and commitment" of its nursing staff.

"AMC is committed to bargaining in good faith with the union, and will continue to do so at the negotiating table," officials said.

Today's informational picket starts at 11:30 a.m. and runs for about two hours along state Route 86 in front of AMC.
