Boys & Girls Club receives grant

VERGENNES-The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Vergennes was awarded a Prevention Framework Grant to build upon the existing prevention systems in the local community and to address making positive changes in high risk drinking among young adults.

The club was awarded for its efforts to increase young adult knowledge around the consequences of drinking and driving through a campaign. Through a focus group, club participants came up with a campaign that included: Advertisement on face book, sticker shock and coasters with the message "DUI Affects All."

The campaign involved the support of local business such as Shaws in Vergennes and The Vergennes Redemption store participating in young adult sticker shock and the local bar City Limits using coasters from our campaign within the bar.

"I am happy to put the coasters in the bar to help support the efforts of the campaign," said Brett Ward, owner of City Limits.
