Great Garage Sale now only a week away
Oct. 2 and 3 will bring the 31st annual World's Largest Garage Sale to Warrensburg, and this year's edition is likely to be as productive for both shoppers or vendors as prior ones have been.
For this sale, the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce rents out spaces in the parking lots of the Warrensburg Health Center, Grand Union grocery store, Glens Falls National Bank, the Warrensburg Senior Center, National Grid and the Emerson Town Hall. Plus, hundreds of private sales are set up all over town.
A reminder goes out to the property owners to advise vendors they need to obtain a permit at Warrensburg's town hall.
Vendors must not park campers or recreational vehicles on Main Street or they may be towed. Buses will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, to and from the parking lot at the county fairgrounds and Warrensburg High School as well as the parking facility at the Warrensburg firehouse off Elm Street.
Bus stops will be labeled through out the town. The chamber will only have maps of bus routes, and not have prepared handouts of where particular vendors are located.
Those churches, clubs and school groups who are sponsoring an event or outlet such as a supper, a food booth or pie sale for Garage Sale weekend, let me know by Friday at noon and I will print it in my column.
Remember the annual joint board meeting
Once a year, a joint meeting of the two local taxing authorities is held to discuss various topics and examine the potential of shared services. Such a meeting between the Warrensburg Town Board and the Warrensburg Central School board is to be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 27, in the Warrensburg High School.
