Keene Valley Rutabaga Festival results announced

KEENE VALLEY - The third annual Great Adirondack Rutabaga Festival was held recently in Keene and included several competitions.

The biggest rutabaga, weighing in at 6.3 pounds, was grown by Everett Stuart of Wells.

The "most unique" rutabaga was grown by JerriLee Zempel of Keene Valley.

The results of the High Peak Hula Hoop Championship were: Holly March (women under 16), Owen McGirl (men under 16), Betsy Thomas-Train (women over 16), and Prime Davis (men over 16)

The fetch-a-baga dog competition was won by "Daisy," a yellow lab from Wells.

The results of the 5K Rutabaga Run are: Eric Morse, first place male, 16:26; Kyle Dash, second place male, 16:55; Joe Sullivan, third place male, 17:45; Elizabeth Havelin, first place female, 21:52; Teresa Chetham-Palen, second place female, 22:58; Ashley Comeau, third place female, 23:08; Aidan Vogl, first place child; 25:21; Olivia Densham, second place child, 26:28; Dan Vellone, third place child, 30:20. More than 75 runners participated.
