PLATTSBURGH - The National Players will perform William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in the theatre of the Stafford Center at Clinton Community College, 136 Clinton Point Drive, Wednesday, Sept. 29. Performances will be held at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
The production, directed by Clay Hopper, will offer a fresh twist on the setting that makes it relevant to today's fast-moving electronic media-saturated world.
National Players, America's longest running classical touring company, has now reached its 60th consecutive season of touring. Currently, the touring program of Olney Theatre Center for the Arts, National Players has earned a distinctive place in American theatre. Committed to the formation of young theatrical talent and audiences, National Players seeks to celebrate the experience of theatergoing by presenting the world's greatest dramatic literature.
The Sept. 29 performance by will be made possible through the support of the Clinton Community College Foundation, the CCC Drama Club, and the CCC Cultural Affairs Committee. Students from area schools who are participating through educational outreach will attend the earlier scheduled performance of the play at the college.
General admission is $10 or $5 for CCC faculty, staff and students. Tickets may be purchased at the CCC Bookstore or at the door the evening of the performance.
