"We want people to come see what we're doing, talk with members of our club, see what the New Land Trust is like and use it," she added. "We're just hoping everyone can hear about our groups and what we do."
The Sept. 26 walk will be held from 1-3 p.m., with New Land Trust guides on-hand for newcomers. Douglas asks those coming to the event to bring their own water and to wear shoes suitable for hiking. She also encourages people to bring their own bags for dog waste and proof of rabies vaccination for their dogs.
"We really have to ask for that," said Douglas, who added dogs must also be kept on a leash at the New Land Trust.
The New Land Trust is located at 236 Plumadore Road and is accessible from State Route 3 in the town of Saranac. For more information about the New Land Trust, including obtaining a map and directions, visit the organization's Web site, www.newlandtrust.org.
