ELLENBURG - In order to make some plans a reality, the Ellenburg Senior Housing Corporation is hosting a concert for the community.
Currently the senior housing corporation has two complexes in Ellenburg, but the board of directors is considering a third.
"We are investigating a third complex which will be primarily for assisted living," explained board of directors vice president Roman Miner. "But this is a long, drawn out affair."
In order to begin getting grants for the third complex, Miner said money is still needed just to get the grants written. Funds are also needed by the senior housing corporation for various events held for the clients throughout the year, including an annual Christmas party.
To raise the funds, Beartracks will perform in concert at Northern Adirondack High School auditorium, next Saturday, Sept. 25, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
"If you've never heard Beartracks, that's the main reason to come out and her some great local entertainment," said Miner.
Beartracks, which consists of resophonic guitar player Junior Barber, acoustic/electric bass and harmony vocals Julie Hogan, and rhythm guitar and harmony vocals Tom Venne, performs roots country, bluegrass and Americana music.
"Junior Barber is arguably one of the best [resophonic guitar] players in the country," said Miner. "I think Tom and Julie ... both have great voices and harmony. Like many sibling duos ... The siblings harmonize beautifully."
The concert is $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Children younger than 10 are admitted free of charge. Tickets are available at Dick's Country Store in Churubusco, Northern Adirondack Motel, or by calling Yvonne Taylor at 594-7558, Donna Curry at 594-7027, or Miner at 293-7292. "We don't expect that we're going to make big money, but if we pick up maybe $1,000 or a little bit better, we'd be happy," said Miner.
From left, Junior Barber, Julie Hogan and Tom Venne, the trio which makes up Beartracks, will be performing a fundraising concert for the Ellenburg Senior Housing Corporations.
