Two seminars remain for DCA grants

WESTPORT - Developing Community Arts grants are available through the Arts Council of the Northern Adirondacks to support art and cultural activities taking place in Essex and Southern Franklin counties in 2011. These grants are available for arts activities in theatre, dance, music, film, video, literature, visual arts, museums, and cultural activities held for the benefit of residents of Essex or Southern Franklin counties.

Art and cultural organizations, youth groups, towns, service groups, and other local nonprofit groups offering artistic or cultural services or programs are all eligible to apply. Individual artists may apply through a sponsor.

Applicants may request up to $5,000 for one project or request up to three separate projects for a total of $5,000. The DCA grant program is a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization grant program and is administered by the Arts Council for the Northern Adirondacks.

The application deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 6. Attendance at an application seminar is required for first- and second-time applicants. Applicants must pre-register for the seminars.

Two seminars dates remain for the upcoming round of grants. On Wednesday, Sept. 8, seminars will be held 11 a.m. at BluSeed Studios in Saranac Lake and 6 p.m. at the Westport Heritage House. On Wednesday, Sept. 15, an additional seminar will be held 11 a.m. at the Westport Heritage House.
