TICONDEROGA - Coach Kathy Tubbs is confident her Ticonderoga soccer team can live up to expectations this fall.
"We have good speed and we're strong at fullback," said Tubbs, the dean of Section VII girls soccer coaches. "We need to develop our passing skills and the ability to work as a team."
The Sentinels return nine players, but success will hinge greatly on their ability to find a goal keeper. With no experience in goal, Kate Mercer is moving from forward into the nets. Megan Campney, who could also see time at fullback, will also line up in goal.
Helping those goalies will be stout defense. Jenell Coffin, Julia Brighenti and Katie Palandrani return at fullback.
New to the back line are Samantha McLoughlin and Paige Hughes.
The midfield boasts experience. Autumn Olcott, Calsie Granger, Sarah teRiele and Beca Diehl return.
New at midfield are Melissa Pockett and Kristian Gibbs.
Chelsea Kearns returns at forward.
Rookies on the inexperienced front line include Andrea Rich, Jaelyn Granger and Kaylene Ross.
Assisting Tubbs with the coaching duties this fall are Adrienne Weld and Tina Russell.
