Police report

Investigation so far has revealed that Kyle Thomas, 19, of Cavenish-an acquaintance of Emanuel Cruz, 23-arrived at Cruz's residence in Chester.

When Cruz answered the door, Thomas pulled a handgun from his waist band and pointed the gun at Cruz's stomach. Thomas then ordered Cruz to get in his (Thomas's) vehicle. Prior to leaving the residence, Cruz was able to flee and at that time Thomas discharged the handgun multiple times at Cruz. Cruz was not hit by any of the rounds discharged and was not injured during the incident. After the shooting, Thomas then fled the scene in his vehicle.

Cruz then called the Chester Police Department to report the incident and a BOL (be on the lookout) was issued on Thomas and his vehicle.

A short time later, Thomas's vehicle was spotted traveling north on Vermont Route 103 in Ludlow. Thomas was stopped by Officer Wilson of the Chester Police Department and was taken into custody without incident.

Thomas is currently being charged with the offenses of Attempted Murder, Attempted Kidnapping and Reckless Endangerment . Thomas is currently being held at the Southeast Correctional Facility without bail. Thomas was arraigned on these charges at Windsor County District Court.

This is currently an active and ongoing investigation and there is no further information available at this time.

Further interviews are being conducted and the Vermont State Police Crime Scene Search Team is processing the scene. There is no photograph available for Thomas at this time.

Anyone who has any information concerning this incident should call the Chester Police Department at 802-875-2112.
