Home & Farm Center theft
The Vermont State Police in Rutland are investigating a burglary from the Home and Farm Center on U.S. Route 7 in Rutland Town. According to store personnel, brand new home appliances were stolen during the theft.
The State Police are asking anyone with information concerning this theft or information concerning persons selling new home appliances at greatly discounted rates to contact Trooper McKenna at 802-773-9101.
W. Rutland fire suspicious
The West Rutland Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at 76 Smith St. in West Rutland. Additional assistance was provided by the Rutland Town Fire Department.
The rapid suppressive efforts by responding fire department personnel quickly controlled the fire, and because of their fast response, moderate damage was sustained to only two rooms in the home. The house is described as a two story wood frame single family home that was vacant at the time of the fire.
After the fire was suppressed, Assistant Fire Chief Skaza of the West Rutland Fire Department, made a request for assistance from the Vermont State Police Fire Investigation unit in determining the origin and cause of this fire.
Det. Sgt. Sutton of the Vermont State Police Fire unit, along with Investigator Boyd of the Division of Fire Safety, responded to the scene of this fire. After a scene investigation was conducted, it has been determined that this fire was caused by suspicious circumstances and is being investigated as a crime at this time.

Police investigate shooting
The Chester Police Department with the assistance of the Vermont State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred at a residence on Orcutt Drive in Chester.
