Vermont War on Terror memorial to be unveiled Nov. 11

RANDOLPH - Gov. Jim Douglas has invited the public to join members of the Vermont Fallen Families organization to observe the Veterans' Day holiday and the unveiling of the Vermont Global War on Terror Memorial at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 487 Furnace Road.

The Vermont Global War on Terror Memorial will be unveiled Thursday, Nov. 11, at 11:00 a.m. Attendees should arrive by 10:30 a.m.

Vermont's Gold Star Families and friends along with state officials have worked hard to organize and create a lasting monument to honor 36 Vermont servicemen who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.

The memorial will forever recognize the patriotism and courage of Vermonters and will include tributes to service men and women who continue to defend freedom around the world and at home.
