Vt. State Police trooper arraigned for DUI

Attorney General William H. Sorrell announced Oct. 25 that Joshua P. Lemieux, age 39, of West Rutland was arraigned in Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Rutland Unit, on one misdemeanor count of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.

According to papers filed in court, Lemieux is accused of operating a motor vehicle on Oct. 7 in Rutland while he was under the influence of alcohol. Lemieux is a Vermont State Police trooper, however he was not on duty at the time of the incident. Lemieux's attorney entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf.

If convicted, Lemieux faces up to two years in prison or a fine of up to $750.00 or both. The court imposed standard conditions of release that govern Lemieux's conduct while his case is pending.
