Benefit to assist ailing Ticonderoga child

TICONDEROGA - A benefit has been scheduled for an ailing Ticonderoga child.Riley Knight, an 11-year-old with a serious disease, is now staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Burlington while undergoing treatment. Proceeds from the event will assist his family.The benefit, slated for Sunday, Oct. 24, at the EMA in Ticonderoga, will feature a dinner, horseshoe tournament and live music. Registration for the horseshoe tournament will be will noon to 1 p.m. with play staring at 1. Registration fee is $5. The dinner will be served 4-6 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are priced at $12 for adults and $6 for children age 12 and younger. Take-out meals will be available.The dinner will feature a pasta station, where people can select their favorite type of pasta and sauce. The dinner will be prepared by Chuck Jennings, executive chef at The West Side Grill at West Mountain in Glens Falls, and his brother Bob Jennings, executive chef at the Burgoyne Grill at the Best Western in Ticonderoga."They are unbelievable chefs with big hearts," said Lisa Mars, an event organizer. "They will be doing a live pasta station at the benefit. People will be able to not only choose what kind of pasta they prefer, but the sauce and ingredients as well."Mars stressed people do not have to play horseshoes to attend the dinner."There is going to be live music with Calamity Rock and Lord Howe," Mars said. "We encourage, and would love it, if other bands would donate their time and come play. You do not have to play horseshoes to come. People can come and have dinner and enjoy the music." People can purchase meal tickets that day at the EMA, or at A Cut Above, Riverside Village Salon, Indulge at Roxi's, the Burleigh Luncheonette and Treadway's Service Center."One of the great things about living in this community is how everyone always comes together in time of need," Mars said.
