On Oct. 18, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Vermont State Police responded to 221 Hawk Ridge Rd. in Florence to investigate the report of a domestic assault. In the course of the investigation, it was determined that Irene Fortin, 49, assaulted a 14-year-old juvenile. She was arrested for domestic assault.
Fortin is also slated to be charged with interfering with access to emergency services after she attempted to prevent the juvenile from calling 911 by taking some of the house's phones.
Fortin was lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Center and was arraigned Oct. 19. The juvenile did not need medical treatment for the injuries she sustained as a result of the assault.
