James King of Port Henry, a student at Moriah Central School, has been named a SUNY-Albany Multicultural High School Achiever.

The university is recognizing 177 outstanding high school seniors from the greater Capital District and beyond as recipients of the awards.

Selected for exemplary academic performance and leadership in their schools and communities, the award winners were honored at a special event on Saturday, Oct. 2. They will take part in campus tours and information sessions.

SUNY Plattsburgh Academic Coordinator for Athletics Michelle St. Onge has announced that 66 Cardinal student athletes from the Winter and Spring Sports have been named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference Academic Team.

Two local athletes were among the 66 named to the SUNYAC team - 19 year old brothers, Dustin and Devin Scott, criminal justice majors at SUNY Plattsburgh have been included in this list. Graduates of Ticonderoga High School 2009, each currently holds school records in track and field. They are the sons of Judy Scott of Ticonderoga.

To be on the All-SUNYAC academic list individual must be a varsity athlete, have completed the entire season and obtained a minimum 3.3 GPA for the semester in which they competed.
