Donations assist students

TICONDEROGA - Dozens of area children will now have adequate supplies for the school year thanks to donations made by those who participated in the Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union School Supplies Drive.

School supplies were collected at TFCU offices and ATM locations beginning in mid-August through Labor Day. The donations were delivered to eight area schools.

"We are very grateful for the generosity of our members and several non-members, for helping make our 1st annual drive a success," said Greg Johnson, president and CEO at the TFCU. "As a result of the kindness shown by our community, many students now have the basic tools needed to be successful in the classroom.

"Today's economy is tough on parents and on schools," he added. "We're pleased to support the education of our local children through the supplies and monetary donations from our local people."

The Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union operates three offices at 1178 NYS Route 9N in Ticonderoga, 43 Meacham St. in Port Henry and 7519 Court St. in Elizabethtown. For more information on becoming a member visit online at www.tfcunow.com.
