Congressman visits Vergennes Oct. 7

The Great Recession has hit Vermont especially hard. Candidates have been focusing on ways to stimulate job creation in the state. On the Democrat side of the aisle, Rep. Peter Welch (D) will continue his statewide Main Street Jobs Tour in Vergennes, Oct. 7, highlighting legislation for Vermont's downtown businesses. This will be the third stop in Welch's Main Street Jobs Tour. His previous visits were in St. Albans and Brattleboro.

During the tour, Welch will speak with local store owners about his Main Street Jobs agenda and solicit further ideas about how he can support Vermont businesses and create jobs. He will be joined by local government and business leaders, including Mayor Michael Daniels, Addison County Regional Development Commission Executive Director Robin Scheu, and Addison County Chamber of Commerce President Andrew Mayer.
