Champlain village mayor resigns

CHAMPLAIN - Mayor Jeffrey Moore has resigned.

Moore, whose resignation was effective Oct. 6, stated he would be resigning following the board of trustees meeting Oct. 5.

"It wasn't anything really as far as the village," explained village deputy clerk Donna Barcomb. "It was something that he decided with what's going on in his life right now."

Moore was not available for comment as of Thursday afternoon.

A meeting will be held this evening at 5 p.m. at the village offices, 1104 State Route 9, to appoint a new mayor for the remainder of Moore's term, which ends in March. The meeting is open to the public.
