Long Lake gears up to 'Celebrate the Season'

LONG LAKE - The Long Lake Recreation and Tourism Department recently announced the arrival of a collaborative holiday celebration. They will join the Long Lake Library and the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts for "Celebrate the Season," Friday, Dec. 3, through Sunday, Dec. 5.

"Annie, The Musical" will debut Dec. 3 at the town hall at 7 p.m. and will begin the weekend-long celebration. Tickets are available on-line at www.adirondackarts.org or by calling 352-7715. The classic musical, featuring a cast from all across the Adirondacks, comes to life as part of the Arts Center's Regional Holiday Production.

The Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Long Lake Library and Friends will be sponsoring a Christmas Craft Fair at the Long Lake Central School starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. Adirondack style vendors and crafters will be joined by food from the Cybercreek Caf and events for children in the gymnasium all day.

Capitalizing on an Adirondack theme, the Long Lake Little Bus will depart from the school parking lot at 1 p.m. Dec. 4, for a guided tour of shops and crafters working out of their Long Lake homes. Tour stops will include the Adirondack Cottage Store, a Christmas display at Samantha Bateman's, wool spinning at Adirondack Fibers, candle making at Jocinda Evans and a unique array of original art and creations at Louisa Woodworth's studio. There will be holiday piano music at the Adirondack Hotel, special deals at Hoss's Country Corner and much more. Maps of the tour will be available at area businesses and the guided tour will return at 4 p.m.

Saturday evening, the Cellar Restaurant and Pub will welcome the "Not Too Far From Home" comedy act at 9 p.m. featuring comic Aaron David Ward. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Seating is limited and tickets are available by calling 624-5539.

On Dec. 5, at 12:30 p.m., the Cr che celebration will commence at the Long Lake Town Hall. Refreshments, coffee and cookies will be served followed by a vocal concert at 3:30 p.m. by Mark Perry of Bolton Landing at the United Methodist Church.

Dec. 4 also officially kicks off the decorating contest slated to be judged for cash prizes Friday, Dec. 17, and Saturday, Dec. 18.
