Lady Lions will rely on proven youth

ELIZABETHTOWN - The future looks bright for the Elizabethtown-Lewis girls basketball team.

"We are looking to improve our defense and grow as a team," said head coach Don Ratliff. "We are young, but we have eight girls returning who all have starter games last year."

Freshman forward Shonna Brooks returns, having led the team in points, rebounds, and blocks during her eighth grade year. Fellow freshman Lily Whalen also returns, having led last year's 8-10 squad in assists.

Senior Jessyka McGinn, Juniors Clare Harwood and Andrea LeVien, and sophomores Jennifer McGinn, Kylee Cassavaugh, and Kearstin Ashline also played key roles last year.

Newcomers include senior Ashli Canabush, junior Kaitlin Coats, and sophomores Emily Morris and Sierra Wimett.
