Activities and events here in the hills Thurman's Old Fashioned Christmas Sale is occurring this Saturday Nov. 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Thurman Town Hall. Everyone is invited to stop by and browse through the lovely array of homemade gifts, which will be good to help fill your Christmas list. There is a wide variety of mittens, socks, slippers, blankets, soaps, toys, wooden items and even books, knickknacks and a food table. Stop by and say Hello and win yourself one of the prizes being given away each hour.

The Southern Adirondack Four Wheeler Club is once again assisting the U.S. Marines in gathering toys for Christmas. A box has been set up at the town hall for donations of new, unwrapped toys, which will be picked up Friday Dec. 10. For details, call Joan at 623-2007.

The Children's Christmas Party, complete with the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus, is to be held at 1 p.m. Saturday Dec. 4 at the Town Hall. Sponsored by the town Youth Commission, the event includes a variety of children's activities as well as carol singing.

The H.E.A.P. outreach program to help folks pay for heating fuel will be conducting an outreach in Warrensburg on Friday Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the senior mealsite in the basement of the United Methodist Church on Main St. Sponsored by the Warren County Office of the Aging, the program is for folks 60 and over or those with disabilities. For information, call 761-6347. Bring proof of address, income and copies of fuel bills, etc.

The town of Thurman is asking residents to continue to recycle and not to mix the glass, tin and plastic in with the trash pick-up. Recyclables are picked up on Friday mornings as follows: the first Friday of the month is glass, the second Friday is tin cans, the third Friday is plastics and the fourth Friday is aluminum and foil. If there is an extra week in the month, there will be no pick-up for the fifth Friday. Please make a note of these dates to keep handy.
