Vergennes Holiday Stroll is Dec. 4

The Vergennes Area Chamber of Commerce, a division of the Addison County Chamber of Commerce, is hosting the fifth annual Vergennes Holiday Stroll on Saturday, Dec. 4. Events begin at 7:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast and wrap up at 7 p.m. with a holiday concert by the Otter Creek Choral Society.

• 7:30-10 a.m.

Breakfast with Santa at VUHS Cafeteria - adults $6, under 10 is $4, under 3 free; info: 759-2922

Come and eat breakfast with Santa & make a craft in his workshop! Sponsored by VUHS students andFriends of Music.

• 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Annual Winter Holiday Craft Fair at Vergennes Elementary School - admission: canned goods and non-perishables for the local food shelf.

• 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

Visit shops and play "Spot the Candy Cane" to win a candy cane gift and discount coupon. Help supply the Community Food Shelf -drop off non-perishable items in merchant's food shelf boxes.

• 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Bixby Library Open House and annual Silent Auction of Holiday Baskets donated by local businesses and patrons (bidding ends at 1:45 - winning bids announced at 2 p.m.) bring donations to hang on the "Mitten & Sock" tree.

• 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Vergennes Rotary selling decorated wreaths at $20 in front of Classic Stitching; proceeds to benefit local needy families.

• 10:30 a.m.

Ring in the Holiday Stroll by joining Santa and his elves strolling from the Vergennes Opera House to the Bixby Library-bring bells to ring and a voice to sing.

• 10:45 a.m.

Santa Claus reads "Twas the Night Before Christmas" at the Bixby Library

• 11 a.m.-noon

"Reminiscing with Father Time" at the Clock Shop at 33 Green St. Listen or share memories, photos, objects, etc. of Christmases past (conversation style). Simply Nice Things will be serving mulled cider and cookies all day!
