•"Very Merry Middlebury": Every year the first weekend in December (Dec. 4-5, 2010) is filled with seasonal family activities at several downtown and college campus locations including the Middlebury Community House, Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History, Vermont Folklife Center, and Middlebury College's Mahaney Center for the Arts and Mead Chapel. Holiday gift ideas abound.

Sunday, Dec. 5

•"Lessons and Carols for Advent and Christmas": 4-7 p.m. at Mead Memorial Chapel, Middlebury College. This annual program combines choral music, congregational singing, and biblical texts of the season. Featuring Laurel Jordan, chaplain; Emory Fanning, organ; and the Middlebury College Chapel Choir, with Jeff Rehbach conducting. Free.

•"Moving Images: Works from the Permanent Collection of Photography and Video Art". The exhibition includes works by time-lapse-photography pioneers Eadweard Muybridge and Harold Edgerton, whose images capture bodies in motion, and more recent artists, like Hiroshi Sugimoto Starts noon at Middlebury College Museum of Art, Overbrook Gallery, and Axinn Center, Winter Garden Screening Room.
