LONG LAKE - After a 15 year hiatus, a committee of volunteers has reconvened to comprise Long Lake's Christmas Decorating Committee.
Jean Lyman, Judy Boudreau and Bobbie Nadeau have joined to offer guidance and support to the Long Lake Parks and Recreation Team in decorating the streets and public buildings of Long Lake. They hope to deliver some holiday spirit through Christmas decorations.
"Our goal is to coordinate efforts to spruce up Long Lake for the holiday season," said parks and recreation director Alexandra Verner Roalsvig. "Don't be alarmed if decorations start to pop up around town during the month of November."
Volunteers have began designing light displays, and will start officially placing the displays around Long Lake after Thanksgiving. Through cooperation with Gillis Real Estate, NYSEG and the Long Lake Highway Department the committee will decorate the spillway, place decorative wreaths on the bridge in the middle of town and hang holiday banners.
"Members of the business and residential community are encouraged to turn their holiday lights on and get in the spirit of the season by participating in our Christmas Decorating Contest," said Roalsvig.
Cash prizes will be awarded and judging for the contest will take place on Friday, Dec. 17 and Saturday, Dec. 18.
