I was watching football with my friend Pete, who's also a big Giants' fan, and neither of us could remember such a relaxing day of viewing for quite some time. Despite a mishap on their first drive, that game was over long before the first quarter ended. And just to make my Sunday complete, the Cowgirls were again humiliated. If not for the Beagles lucky win, it would have been the perfect weekend.
There were a lot of great games in Week 9, and it turned out to be a strong week for many of our pickers, with John Gereau, Chris Morris, and Donna LaVergne posting near-perfect 12-1 records. Ten others came in at 11-2, including Sam Grant, who moves into a tie for first with Justin Bazil. There are still a whole host of pickers within striking distance as we head into the second half of the season.
My lovely wife will be thrilled to learn that we're into the part of the season that features games every Thursday night, starting this week with Baltimore at Atlanta. I'd like to see the Ravens win this one, but I have to take Atlanta, where their quarterback has lost at home only once in his career.
Of course, the one I'll be enjoying most will be on Sunday, when The New York Football Giants welcome the Cowgirls and their new head coach with yet another major beat-down. Sure, Dallas could come out trying to play hard for Jason Garrett, but it won't matter. The Giants intentionally let Seattle's quarterback finish the game last week, but there's a real good chance Kitna won't finish this one.
Buffalo is starting to piss me off. I really thought they'd win their first game last week, and they let me down. This week, they're at home - their real home - against Detroit, who may be forced to start their third-string quarterback. I'm picking the Bills again, but if they blow this one, I won't be picking them until possibly 2012.
