Vermont State Police troopers conducted a motor vehicle stop of Jose Tomas Flores Rocha after he was stopped traveling at 72 mph, in a 50 mph zone, on U.S. Route 22A in Orwell at 10:53 p.m. Oct. 22.
Rocha was operating a vehicle with Mississippi registration plates that were expired.
Investigation during the stop revealed that Rocha and his passenger, Paola Lopez-Sarmiento, were illegal immigrants.
Rocha's Oregon drivers license was condemned by that state.
The two subjects were turned over to U.S. Border Patrol officials.
