Rebels with a cause

The 100-mile ride begins on Main Street in Au Sable Forks and takes motorcyclists north to Plattsburgh, then across to Lyon Mountain.

One of the past beneficiaries of the event, Don Duffy, is a former special education teacher and girls hockey coach at Saranac Lake Central School. In his honor, riders make a stop at Ga-Ga's in Bloomingdale before returning to the starting point.

Following the ride is a barbecue dinner, the cost of which is included with each rider's registration. Non-riders can also purchase the dinner for the $15 registration fee.

Regardless of whether participants ride, there are plenty of other reasons to get involved, such as the silent auction, horseshoe tournament, and 50-50 raffle. A live band, Lucid, will provide entertainment in the evening.
