MORIAH - Three men have been arrested in connection with the theft of $30,000 and two hand guns.
Lewis-based State Police said William E. Ball, 26, and Dustin J. Fernandez, 20, both of Moriah broke into the residence of John Maye on May 3 and stole a safe that contained the money, two handguns and personal documents.
Ralph R. Larmore, 28, of Witherbee is accused of helping the pair unsuccessfully hide the safe and its contents, which were later recovered in an abandoned mine shaft.
Police are continuing to investigate the theft and are working with the Essex County District Attorney's Office to determine whether additional charges will be filed.
Both Ball and Fernandez are now facing a charge of second-degree burglary, while Larmore has been charged with criminal possession of stolen property.
All three were arrested May 12 and sent to the Essex County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
Adirondack man charged
Chester man was charged with two misdemeanors after he allegedly exposed his genitalia to people at a hiking trailhead, police said.
Bruce E. Smith, 49, of Adirondack was charged with public lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child based on a complaint made to state police May 17.
The endangering the welfare of a child charge was brought because a child is alleged to have witnessed the incident, police said.
The incident happened at the trailhead to Gull Pond in the Pharaoh Lakes Wilderness Area, police said.
Smith was arraigned and sent to Warren County Jail for lack of bail.
Troopers from the Chester and Schroon Lake stations handled the case.
Ti man arrested
A Ticonderoga man was arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges May 22.
Todd A. Gijanto, 36, was charged with one count grand larceny, a fourth degree class E felony; and one count of petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.
