High Peaks golf tourney to benefit students

NEWCOMB - Newcomb Central School's class of 2012 will host the first tournament of the High Peaks Golf Course 2010 season June 5.

The tournament is a fundraiser for the class and the proceeds will go toward paying for their senior trip.

Tee-off will be at 9 a.m. The cost of $55 per person includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, a buffet-style lunch, and great prizes, including a prize for a hole-in-one.

"Spectacular scenery and challenging golf combine to make High Peaks Golf Course one of the most enjoyable courses in the Adirondacks," said tournament organizer Edward LaCourse. "Fairways, greens and views of the surrounding mountains blend to make for a memorable golfing experience. Each of the course's nine holes, winding along the upper Hudson River, presents experienced golfers and new players with unique and interesting challenges."

To register for the golf tournament call Newcomb Central School at 518-582-3341 or email elacourse@newcombcsd.org or mswan@newcombcsd.org.

"It's nice to know that we can have fun and at the same time help out Newcomb students," said Judy DePasquale, a Newcomb resident who played in last year's tournament.
