Ti High students mark Earth Day

TICONDEROGA - Ticonderoga High School volunteers are still "keeping up appearances" for Earth Day. Fifty-three students and six staff members ventured out to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, the third year of this school initiative, which was inaugurated by Bill Morse and Marsha LaPointe.

"Everyone needs to take pride and ownership of our town and keep our streets clean." said Morse.

Members from the student body at large worked during study halls, others during Lynne Lenhart's Spanish classes.

As in previous years, volunteers covered Alexandria Avenue, Lake George Avenue, Calkins Place and Amherst Avenue.

Lenhart's students were following up on a special emphasis on environmental issues, which connected to their recent Costa Rica trip.

The town aided the effort again this year by supplying vests and signs for safety, as well as picking up the filled bags afterward. Forty bags of trash were collected.
