Spike Wilner Jazz Trio brings their tunes to Tannery Pond

NORTH CREEK - Popular Greenwich Village Jazz pianist Spike Wilner will appear at Tannery Pond Community Center in North Creek on Saturday, May 22, at 7:30 p.m. He will be accompanied by vocalist Cyrille -Aimee and bassist Paul Gill. The concert is presented by Upper Hudson Musical Arts, a not for profit corporation dedicated to bringing excellent music to northern New York.

Spike Wilner has been playing professionally for twenty two years. He is a fixture on the New York City Jazz scene and has played with a number of well known musicians including Tony Bennett, Maynard Furgeson, Wynton Marsalis and Artie Shaw. He has released eight recordings under his name including his most recent, "Three to Go" featuring Lincoln Center's Ryan Kisor l.

Cyrille-Aimee became involved with the gypsies at a young age in her home town of Samois sur Seine, France She quickly adopted them as her second family. Even though Cyrille already displayed natural abilities for music and dance, strongly influenced by her Latin mother, her first encounter with jazz came from her experiences with the gypsies. Her biggest influence came from Ella Fitzgerald, with her driving swing and sensuous joy of life.

Paul Gill is originally from Baltimore, Maryland where in 1985 he received a bachelor's degree in music from Towson University. After graduating Paul became an in-demand freelance player and performed extensively throughout the Baltimore-Washington area with such notable artists as saxophonists Gary Baetz and Stanley Turrentine
