Ticonderoga thinclads race to victories

Ticonderoga topped the combined Elizabethtown-Keene-Moriah-Westport team, 88-21, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys track and field action May 4.

The Sentinels won all but two events.

Jonathan Granger won the 200-meter run and long jump for the locals, and ran legs on the winning 400 and 1,600-meter relay teams.

Jesse Perkins won the 100 dash and high jump and ran a leg on the victorious 400 relay.

Joss Ross won the shot and discus for the locals, while Ken Johnson won the 400 and ran a leg on the winning 1,600 relay.

Jay Berube ran legs on the winning 3,200 and 1,600 relays and Mike Barber ran on the winning 400 and 1,600 relay teams.

Jay Hebert won the 110-meter hurdles. Josh Cook, Javeed Nazir and Upton rounded out the winning 3,200 relay team. Luke Bartlett rounded out the winning 400 relay squad.

Ticonderoga lost the girls meet, 65-52.

Courtney Shaner won the 100-meter hurdles and 200 sprint for the Sentinels.

Lexi Bezon won the 100 dash and high jump for the locals.

Also winning for Ti were Tabitha Taylor in the 800-meter run and Abigail Gurney in the shot.

Sentinels win

Ticonderoga edged Plattsburgh, 67-65, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys track and field action May 6.

Jesse Perkins and Jonathan Granger led the way for Ti.

Perkins won the 110-meter hurdles, the 200 dash, the high jump and ran a leg on the winning 400-meter relay team.

Granger won the 100 dash, 400 run, long jump and ran a leg on the winning 400-meter relay team.

Also winning for the Sentinels were Jay Berube in the 1,600-meter un and Mike Barber in the 400 hurdles. Kelly Dunn and Luke Bartlett ran legs on the winning 400-meter relay team.

Ticonderoga lost the girls meet, 96-31.

Delaney Bush won the shot for the Sentinels.
