PLATTSBURGH - The Battle of Plattsburgh Association has announced winners of its annual essay contest. The contest focused on the September 1814 Battle of Plattsburgh.
The winners for grades 4-5 were: First place - Emma Spronk, Tree of Life Home School; second place - Everett Sapp, Beekmantown Central School; and third place - Emily Douglas, Peru Intermediate School.
Winners for grades 6-8 were: First place - Pascal Spronk, Tree of Life Home School; second place - Joey Garrand, Northern Adirondack Central School; and third place - Sabrina Steele, Northern Adirondack Central School.
A reception for the winners and their families will be held at the Battle of Plattsburgh Association's Press Republican Theater on Washington Road this Saturday, May 8, beginning at 2 p.m.
Cash prizes will be awarded thanks to a grant from KeyBank.
