In Ludlow, Okemo Mountain Resort is gearing up to celebrate the changing of the seasons with another weekend packed with events and activities for skiers and riders of all ages and skill levels. On Saturday, April 3, the popular Slush Cup event will commence.
Of course the object is to ski or snowboard down a trail and then skim across the 80-foot slush pond without falling into the chilly water.
The entry fee is $20 for the first 120 participants, with many great prizes given in several categories including best costume, who can stay the driest and who commits the best wipe out! Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the Slush Cup skimming begins at 11 a.m.
Also on Saturday will be the new "Splash For Cash" event, beginning at 1 p.m.
With a huge kicker placed at the edge of the Slush Cup pond, contestants get one chance to "go big and get wet!"
Best freestyle kicks and biggest splashes will earn the top prizes, including two age category winners who will split the registration fees and go home with some very wet cash! Skiers who register for both the Slush Cup and Splash for Cash events will receive a discount and pay only $30.
On Sunday, April 4, Okemo will also host it's annual Easter Egg Hunt, which is very popular with the younger kids.
The ski slopes will be full of colored eggs stuffed with prizes, including certificates for breakfast at The Hatchery, however, there is also one over-sized "Golden Egg" hidden on one of the Okemo trails.
The lucky bunny who finds that one will win a pair of skies or a snowboard!
