MINERVA - The Town of Minerva will come alive with celebration on Saturday, July 3 as local residents welcome back Minerva Day.
"We welcome residents and visitors alike to come help us celebrate Minerva Day with some traditional activities," said Sue Montgomery Corey, supervisor. "The fishing derby, garage sales and opening of Minerva Historical Society's Museum among other events should draw some positive attention to Minerva."
Visit any one of the host sites for a compete list of events, times and locations. Sites include the firehouse, Donnelly Beach, Courtney Park, Brannon Field, the Minerva History Museum, St. Mary's Church, Irishtown School House and Sporty's Iron Duke Saloon.
The day kicks of at the firehouse with a breakfast to benefit the Minerva Central School class of 2011 and conclude with fireworks at dusk at Donnelly Beach.
The Home Town Parade will begin at 5 p.m. and honor the winner of the citizen of the year award, Jake Hitchcock as well as Katie Smith, grand marshal of the parade.
"We hope to see some crowds to turn out to enjoy Minerva and celebrate what we have to offer," said Corey.
