In the semi-finals, Gore gave up five runs in the first inning to fall behind 5-0 right off the bat, but pitcher Connelly settled in and only gave up one run in the last five innings to get the 12-6 win.

Cleveland was two-for-four with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Tyrel was two-for-four with a double, two runs and RBI. Stevens was two-for-three with a run and a RBI. Connelly and West both added hits. Cleveland, Donohue, Tyrel, Connelly and West all played solid defense.

In the championship game, Sponable pitched a one hitter and Tyrel hit a two-run home run to lead Gore to a 3-1 win.

Sponable gave up only one hit while striking out 12 batters. In the last inning he struck out the order to start the Gore celebration.

In the first inning after a Sponable's single, Tyrel hit his first home run of the season.

"I couldn't think of a better time to hit your first home run," said coach Rand LaFountain.

Also adding hits were Cleveland and Stevens, as both teams pitched well and played great defense.

Over the weekend two players hit key milestones while playing for Gore. Cleveland had the 50th RBI of his career in the first game and Sponable had his 50th career hit. Connelly set a team record on the season, striking out only one time all season.

"I would like to thank the players and parents for a great

season," said LaFountain. "It has been a lot of fun to coach these boys."

The Gore team would like to congratulate the other three majors Johnsburg teams on their seasons. Congratulations to the Wildcats softball team for their division championship and to the Blue J's softball team for winning their year-end tournament.
