Crown Point, Schroon Lake students recognized

CROWN POINT - The Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference has named its spring 2010 scholar athletes.

Crown Point is represented by seniors Noel Vezzi and Ross Malone.

Vezzi was a member of the Panther softball team that went undefeated in regular season and reached the quarterfinals of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class D tournament. Crown Point was 16-1 on the season, winning the MVAC and Section VII championships.

Vezzi is valedictorian of the Crown Point Class of 2010.

Malone played on the Panther baseball team that captured the MVAC championship with an upset of top-seed Schroon Lake.

Schroon Lake is represented by seniors Mindy Whitty and Tim Mahler.

Whitty was a member of the Wildcat softball that enjoyed its best season in recent memory.

Mahler played on the Wildcat golf team and advanced to the Section VII individual tournament this spring.

Rounding out the MVAC scholar athlete roster are Grace Cady and Dom Pfau of Bolton, Lance Lee and Kristen Jacques of Elizabethtown-Lewis, Rachael Dunkley of Johnsburg, Cody Whitney and Jessica Caner of Keene, Jordan Wallace and Colleen Nerney of Long Lake, Tatsuki Miyazato and Tara Galusha of Minerva, Brandon Poulton and Larissa Roy of Newcomb, Samantha Bartholf of Wells, Kalika Hopkins and Johnny Stahl of Westport and Josh Bridge and Tara Robare of Willsboro.
