Many farmers markets

A sign of the times: state agencies have teamed up with local producers to enable Vermont's 86,000 recipients of 3SquaresVT-popularly known as government food stamps-have access to farmers' markets across the state.

This year 27 farmers' markets throughout Vermont-11 more than last year and almost half of the total markets in the state-will accept food stamps.

In addition to fresh fruits and vegetables, honey, meats, dairy, and maple products available at the markets, people wanting to grow their own food can even use their food stamps to buy fruit and vegetable seeds or plants.
