Johnsburg Goes to War: 1861-1865

Glenn L. Pearsall

Light, John

Born 1829 in Canada, son of Paul (mother's name unknown). Apparently moved to Johnsburg after the war, perhaps because of logging opportunities. Served Co. M, 1st Maryland Cavalry.

Monroe, Martin A.

Born 1845, son of Giles and Pauline (Thompson) of Vermont. Served in Co. C, 11th NYVI and apparently moved to Johnsburg after the war. Died Aug. 31, 1920.

Morehouse, James L.

Born Feb. 16, 1842. Parent's names unknown. Not listed in Johnsburg 1860 Census, but must have relatives in the area as he died on June 23, 1864 during the war and his body was buried in Johnsburg.
