Youth cast their lines in E-town

ELIZABETHTOWN - Elizabethtown held its annual Youth Fishing Derby May 31, giving dozens of children a chance to experience the excitement of the outdoors.

About 25 children from the Elizabethtown-Lewis School District participated in three age groups, catching nearly 75 trout stocked in Big Hollow Pond near the Cobble Hill Golf Course.

The event was supported by the Elizabethtown Fire Department, Stewart's, Grand Union, Adirondack Outdoor Company, Essex County Fish Hatchery, Park Motor Inn, Buckley and Alton White, Elizabethtown Fish and Game Club, and volunteers on Memorial Day.

Awards included:

0-5 Age Group

Largest Fish: Emma Hance

Most Points: Austin Baker

Most Fish: Jarik

Smallest Fish: Jackson Hooper

6-10 Age Group

Largest Fish: David Duso

Most Points: Gabriel Gentles

Most Fish: Breanna Duso

Smallest Fish: Andrew

11-15 Age Group

Largest Fish: Justin Heald

Most Points: Michael Ingwersen

Most Fish: Jamison Decker

Smallest Fish: Katie Decker

Heather Naciag Award for largest overall fish: David Duso
