Teacher hopes to attract

TICONDEROGA - mental_floss is hitting the road and a local teachers thinks the intellectual group should visit Ticonderoga.

"I think this could be a great boone for our burgh," said Amy Crannell, a Ti High English teacher. "Mental_floss is a long time favorite of mine - lots of great trivia - and the kids at school love to tackle the quizzes when we have time."

mental_floss is scheduling its national tour through a contest. Fans are being asked to Email the troupe. Tour stops will be based on the number of Emails from each community.

Crannell hopes Ticonderoga residents will Email mental_floss and invite it to town. She's contacting local officials and organizing an Email campaign.

"If you think mental_floss should bring our traveling circus to your town, e-mail us at comeflosswithme@mentalfloss.com and put your town's name in the subject line (it makes it a lot easier for us to tally votes)," according to a mental_floss press release. "That's all you have to do! And if you'd like to assist in any way with the planning/promotion of the event, just let us know in your e-mail. There will be flossy prizes involved for all those who help."

mental_floss is a bi-monthly American magazine, launched in 2001 in Birmingham, Ala., that presents facts and trivia in a humorous way.

MentalFloss.com is also host to a popular blog, which contains additional trivia, features and news articles.

The company now has additional offices in Brooklyn, New York and Chesterland, Ohio, and the magazine has a circulation of more than 100,000 subscribers in over 17 countries. The publication also has been included in Inc. magazine's list of the 5,000 fastest growing private companies.

The magazine frequently publishes books and sells T-shirts with humorous sayings.

In addition, there is a licensed trivia board game similar to Trivial Pursuit.
