Streetfest slated in Ticonderoga today

TICONDEROGA - Downtown Streetfest will return to Ticonderoga.

The second annual event will be held Saturday, July 31, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be sponsored by the Ticonderoga Montcalm Street Partnership.

"We're almost ready," said Sue Rathbun, chair of the Ticonderoga Montcalm Street Partnership. "All the planning and effort by all the volunteers is about to pay off.

"We have more than 30 outside vendors and craftspeople, about a dozen vintage cars, a couple of boats, about ten restaurants, food vendors selling treats, the hospital, community groups, things for kids - you name it and we've got it," she said. "All we need is good weather and if we don't have that, we'll have Streetfest the next day Sunday. Don't miss the fun -come on down - it'll be bigger and better than last year."

Streetfest will be organized by the partnership's Enterprise Committee, chaired by Rolly Allen. The committee includes Sandie Bolton, Donna Van Wirt, Diane Farinick, Chattie Van Wert, Barb Brassard, Pam Nolan, Mark Johns, Nancy Kelley, Ross Kelley, Neil Rypkema, John Reale, Nicole Pressley and Art Hatfield.

The Ticonderoga police, fire and EMS departments are also being asked to participate in the event.

Montcalm Street will be closed from the Sunshine Laundry to Glens Falls National Bank at 8 a.m. to allow for setup, and Streetfest will kick off at 10 am.

Activities will come to a close at 4 p.m. and the street will reopen at 5 p.m.
